Tutorial: Guide to Sub-Ohm Vaping

What is Sub-Ohm Vaping?

What is sub-ohm vaping? Simply put it is vaping on a device whose atomizer coils have a resistance of less than one ohm. The reason some advanced vapers “sub-ohm” is to increase the power output of fixed voltage devices like mechanical mods and non-variable regulated devices to create more vapor or flavor. Although it might sound simple for the uninitiated it can be quite complex and confusing. The goal of this guide is to make sure you have accurate information so you can decide if sub-ohm vaping is right for you.

Nicotine and Sub-Ohm Vaping.

When vaping using sub-ohm coils a substantial amount of vapor is produced compared to using coils above 1ohm on the same device. Typically sub-ohm vapers take lung hits meaning they inhale straight to their lungs increasing the vapor they can inhale each puff. Usually those vaping sub-ohm will use lower nicotine strengths (typically 6mg/ml and under) compared to those vaping above 1ohm.

Sub-Ohm Vaping with VV/VW Devices.

Sub-ohm vaping evolved as a way to increase power to the coils beyond what the safe capacity of regulated devices available at the time. Today high power regulated devices are widely available can deliver a consistent amount of power to the coils allowing you to use the resistance of your choosing and the ability to adjust it to your liking while potentially out performing the capacity of even a sub-ohm build on a mechanical mod. While low power regulated devices remain best suited for resistances above 1ohm.

Is Sub-Ohm Vaping Right For You?

It very well might be, then again it’s not for everyone. Before you rush off to start vaping sub-ohm please consider the following. Most sub-ohm vapers are quite experienced, I would not recommend sub-ohm vaping for the first time vaper as it is advisable to gather a little knowledge on the subject before jumping in the deep end of vaping. If you are not happy with your current vaping set up and desire more flavour and more vapour then sub-ohming might be the way to go.

Our Advice

My recommendation is to do plenty of research on the subject and if possible try before you buy. Certainly customers that come into our store can try before they buy. For our on line customers try and borrow a friend or relatives, watch youtube videos and tutorials. Give us a call in store if you’re unsure and we can answer your questions and/or recommend the best set up for your vaping needs.

Pro’s & Cons of Sub-Ohm Vaping

  • Massive flavour increase, no comparison compared to standard vaping
  • Huge clouds (if you like that type of thing – may be a con for some)
  • Reduced nicotine intake (most sub-ohm vapers use 6mg juice or less)
  • Coils last much longer than standard tanks
  • Hardware is made to a much higher quality than your standard ego Batteries & Clearo’s

  • You will use more juice (at least twice as much)
  • Your batteries won’t last as long due to running at higher wattages
  • If your shy about vaping and prefer to stealth vape, it’s not for you.
  • Can be complicated for beginner vapers
  • More expensive (but still way cheaper than smoking)

Doctors recommending ecigs

Finally some common sense being spoken about the health benefits of ecigs. Doctor Joe tells it how it is in the below video.

Ecigarettes 95% safer than traditional tobacco products - UK Gov Report

Click the link below to read a recent report that confirms what most of us Vapers have known for years that the humble Ecig is magnitudes safer than traditonal tobacco cigarettes and the like. Now if we could only get the boneheads and nay sayers from our own governments and cancer councils to realise the truth and stop putting their excise tax and funding ahead of peoples lives.

You never know it may even save or greatly extend many Australian smokers lives.

Some Ecig Fast Facts

Where can I buy e cigarettes in Australia with confidence

Well of course I am going to say right here at Ecigify but I'm going to list a few points on why you should do that below.

1. All stock is held right here in store we do not drop ship any products at all

2. We have been in the business since 2012 and intend on being in it for many years to come.

3. "Service" 90% of orders are packed and shipped the same day and we only do Australia Post Express Post.  Most customers have there orders within 1 day.

4. "Product"  We carry all the big brand name products in the ecig market, Innokin, Kanger, Aspire & Kamry just to name a few and we carry a lot of it. Not just the big brands if we find a decent product from a smaller company we also will stock them. The things we look for in any product is build quality and performance if it does not pass these two important criteria we will not stock it.

5. We have a brick and mortar store as well as the online business and two full time staff running the business 6 days a week (we have Sundays off). Most other stores are only online and run part time while the owner still works there full time day job. We know this because that is how we started.

6. This one is a big one in my opinion, we can be contacted by phone most others can only be contacted via email. We have two phone numbers proudly displayed on the top of our webpage and guess what ring us within business hours and we will answer. If we are too busy to answer leave a message and we will call you back as quick as we can and by that we mean within hours not days, if possible it will be within minutes. You can even ring the mobile after hours and I will probably answer that as well, if I don't then please leave a message and I will call you back.

7. "price" by all means have a look around I actually urge you to look around and you will find our products are very competitively priced, our starter kits are jam packed and are the cheapest in the land. Im not saying we are the cheapest for every product we stock, that is just not possible. Our prices are as competitive as anyone out there and need to be as we plan on being in this business for the long term and not just for a quick buck like many of the online shops popping up these days.

8. "After Sales Service" If there is a problem call us and we will do our very best to fix the problem even if the product is past its warranty date. We have been in this business a while and both of us are current vapers and we know a few tricks and may be able to give you some advice on how to fix your problem. Need some advice or guidance or just not sure about something then please give us a call both Scott & myself love nothing more than to have a chat about anything to do with ecigs.

We hope the above points will instill you with confidence to buy from Australia's best ecig store. If you want some more information take a look at our about us page and see how we started and where we are at now. Or just give us a call for a chat.

BBC Video - A doctors perspective on ecigs

We found the below video and thought it was a very unbiased view of vaping presented by a doctor. Its only 5 minutes long but touches on all the right facts and presents a mostly positive and sensible point of view in regards to vaping over smoking.

Now if we could only get our Government and health organisations to show some common sense our country would be a lot better off. hmm common sense and Government not words you will find in the same sentence very often!

Updated shipping rates

We have made the decision to drop the $7 slow post option from our shipping rates, to be quite honest although this service was reliable, to some destinations in Australia it was terribly slow to arrive, sometimes over two weeks. Hence we now only ship by express post which is $9.45 for parcels under 500g and $14.45 for packages over 500g.

We feel this is the best option as it is only $1.95 more expensive and most parcels arrive next day or at worst two business days.

We still have free express shipping for orders over $100 in value.
